Eastern provides great resources for international students, which helped me adjust to living in a new country and university. The team at OGI is always willing to help international students, from picking them up at the airport, taking them shopping, and getting groups together to attend different events on campus. Moreover, making friends and joining different clubs helped me take my mind off home so that I don't get homesick.
I have appreciated the friends, and the welcoming and supportive staff and faculty throughout campus. They are eager to help students in making a difference in both the classroom and the community.
Besides the language barrier, which a lot of international student have to face when they move to a new country, what I found most challenging about studying at EWU was the food on campus. It was something that took me awhile to get used to.
My most memorable moment of studying and living in the U.S. and EWU so far was welcome week, an event for all incoming students. The moment when I was sitting in convocation, is when I realized that I am here, in the US, and this will be my second home for the next few years. It felt awesome and exciting.
I would tell other international students studying here to keep an open mind! Culture gaps are inevitable, but as long as you keep an open mind, are willing to learn and be patient, you will do well. Enjoy your time here.
