Eastern Washington University is committed to continually improving its internationalization efforts in order to increase the success of all students at the university.
In fall 2014, Eastern Washington University joined the 12th cohort of the American Council on Education (ACE) Internationalization Laboratory. EWU’s internationalization lab team had administrative representation from the Office of Global Initiatives, all five EWU divisions, faculty representatives from each of EWU’s five colleges and two student representatives. Under ACE’s guidance, the EWU lab team is clarifying institutional goals and developing a strategic internationalization action plan. EWU received findings and recommendations from ACE in July of 2016.
The ACE Peer Review visit team indicated that EWU has a good foundation for continuing internationalization and improving student success. This is due to faculty and administrative support who have the leadership, dedication, energy, and established structures to strengthen and sustain its goals.
The process of internationalization is by nature continuous, and requires regular check-ins and re-evaluations, a process to which EWU and OGI is committed. By developing and continuing this process, EWU will make its balanced internationalization goals part of its everyday operations, continuing to reinforce its reputation as a distinctive institution.
