Eastern Washington University has been ranked among the top 10 best colleges for students with children by BestColleges.com.
EWU is ranked No. 10 out of 50 colleges named in the ranking, and is noted for its Children’s Center, as well as its residential and support communities.
“The EWU Children’s Center was the only way I was able to finish my bachelor’s degree as a single mother living, working and attending school in Cheney,” student-parent Samantha De Abreu ’16 said.
Resources for students with families at EWU are abundant — students with children or families are automatically qualified for affordable on-campus housing units. The Children’s Center also includes a state-funded classroom called ECEAP.
The EWU Children’s Center serves children ranging in age from 6 weeks to 10 years, and offers an educational, child-centered program to EWU students, faculty and staff. Approximately 85 percent of enrollment represents student families.
“The staff there really love and care for your children like they are their own, and I wouldn’t replace the childhood my daughter experienced there for anything,” De Abreu said.
