Tláloc in Art and Culture

Story by Christine Roach, courtesy of EWU 24/7.

The EWU Downtown Student Gallery is hosting Tláloc in Art and Culture, a photographic exhibition of 35 images of the god Tláloc who is considered the god of rain, lord of rivers and springs, and creator of clouds, lightning and thunder. The exhibition is on loan from EWU’s partner Universidad Nacional Autonoma De Mexico.

The photographs of this exhibition were taken from archeological pieces in museums of Mexico and Central America. They are displayed in such a way that will provide viewers the opportunity to see the coincidences and differences of Tláloc among diverse Mesoamerican cultures.

Exhibit runs from Sept. 26 – Oct. 31. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the EWU Downtown Student Gallery at 404 2nd Avenue. View more upcoming events here.
