Required Pre-Arrival Steps

Confirm Intent to Enroll

Congratulations on your admission to Eastern Washington University!

You will need to confirm your intent to enroll with the following steps:

  1. Visit your application and log in with the same username/password information you used to apply and get your admission decision (you need the website confirmation, not the letter you were sent).
  2. Click the link "Your application decision is now available online" and on the next screen you should see a "Confirm Now" button.
  3. You will then need to fill out the enrollment form and use a credit card to pay the $250 (non-refundable) enrollment fee.

Step 1: Register for Your Eagles Email

All students are required to have a NetID to apply for housing and access EWU electronic services, including registration, and they must use Eagles email as their official email address. From here on out, please use your Eagles email for all contact with the University, and it’s also the best way to reach OGI advisors. They have a large caseload, and personal email and messages can get lost easily.

Step 2: Apply for On-Campus Housing

New first-year bachelors students under the age of 21 are required to live on campus in the residence halls. Living on campus is an important component of a student’s first year at Eastern Washington University. It is very important that you apply for housing as soon as possible.

If you do not plan to live in campus housing, and you are not at least 21 years of age, you will be required to complete and submit an EWU Undergraduate Housing Exception Request form

The completed form must be submitted to the Housing office at housing@ewu.edu along with documentation (such as a marriage certificate for students with a husband or wife).

Please note: 1) Not all exception requests are approved. 2) Graduate students are not subject to the campus housing requirement.

Step 3: Online Orientation

After you have confirmed and set up your Eagles Email, you'll get an invitation to an Orientation class in Canvas, our online learning management tool at Eastern. The class does a few things: it introduces you to a program you will use for many of your classes; it gives you important information you need to know specifically as an international student; and it goes over basic information about registering for classes. Please have this course completed before April 14th.

Step 4: Register for Classes

Academic students must register on-line for courses prior to arrival. Classes are filling fast—register now for the best selection! English Language Institute students will take a placement test upon arrival and be automatically registered for their ELI classes.

Use the EWU Portal to access registration tools. Select Student, then scroll down on the left hand column until you see registration tools. Additional information about registration is available here. New academic students can register for classes now!

Please note: EWU's Center for Academic Advising and Retention (CAAR) is available to assist Bachelor-level students with academic advising. Please visit Monroe 111 to schedule an appointment.

Step 5: Request Pickup from the Airport

Airport pick ups and drop offs during winter months, November through February, are offered on a case-by-case basis and will not be offered during inclement weather and unsafe driving conditions.

Students are encouraged to use public transportation, a taxi service, or Uber. Send an email to global@ewu.edu if you have special circumstances or questions.
